Minutes of the Last Meeting
The minutes of the last meeting were signed as a true and correct record on the proposition of Pauline Tymchak seconded by Karen Moyle.
Maryke is looking into the position regarding the licence for the Ice Cream vendor to trade in the Park on a regular basis.
Visitor Centre Extension
Pat Battye reported that the sub-committee had again looked into the options for increasing the size of the Visitor Centre by adding to the structure and also considered replacing the existing building with one of larger capacity. There will be a site visit on Tuesday 9 June atHe further reported that English Heritage are still interested in a new Centre and he will, on Andy Wimble’s next visit ask about the blast wall.
Green FlagThe assessment appears to have gone smoothly. We have had three complimentary emails about our role on the day – from
Peter reported that he has a meeting with Molly Walton planned for tomorrow.. The sub committee will meet to complete as much as possible of the HLF grant application.
Members of the Kirklees Wildlife Advisory Forum visited last night and made several suggestions to place before the planting plan meeting on Friday.
We have been invited to take a stand to Crosland Moor Community Centre Family Fun Day but there were no takers due to the short notice
Secretary’s ReportCurrent membership is 271 but there is a feeling that there may have been a loss of some details in the early years. We will contact the people we feel should be members and have been overlooked in membership transference.
A letter has been drafted regarding Memorial benches in the Park. This project is in conjunction with Kirklees and the Secretary will discuss this fully with Maryke on her return from holiday before bringing it before the meeting.Treasurer’s Report
Mary presented her report setting out our financial position. Current balance £xxxxxxx. £2,000 has been transferred to the planting fund. It was proposed by Tony Moyle, seconded by John Pearson that the profits from the plant sale should be allocated to this fund.Mary’s report was accepted on a show of hands.
Social
Anne Mallinson reported on a very good Plant Sale on 16 May. The Bradford Accordion Band was greatly appreciated. On Sunday the Lions will host The Examiner Challenge in the Park – with 130 registered entrants with wheelchairs/pushchairs plus helpers help and cakes needed from 9.00 am.
Visitor Centre
An extractor fan is fitted and working.
Heritage
Karen has received photos from Ken Kaye depicting planting in the early years. Pauline Tymchak volunteered to look at painted glass panels bearing images of the Park available at Andy Thorntons Architectural Salvage
Park
It is generally agreed that John Mason is doing great works in the Park with lots of planting going on. The apprentices have undertaken soil testing ahead of the planting plan.
AOB
Pauline Tymchak advised us that a parent has offered more fish. It is felt that we need to assess water quality and call for management and maintenance schedule before accepting further offers.
Pat Battye is in receipt of a quote for Christmas cards. At 44p each it was felt that this was too expensive. It was noted that the Photographic Group are to produce a calendar depicting scenes from the Park and we may be interested in purchasing 100.
