Friends of Beaumont Park Ukulele Group

Welcome to the Friends of Beaumont Park - Ukulele Group

Formed in February 2013 for anyone over 55 and wishing to learn and play the ukulele, the Ukulele group meet in the Visitor Centre every Tuesday afternoon.  The class starts prompt at 2pm.

If you can play the ukulele and interested in joining us please contact Mary Kenworthy  01484 301411. Please note soprano, concert, tenor or bass ukuleles only not banjoleles or similar instruments.

We have a lesson with Ginette Eady, Musica Kirklees (Formerly Kirklees Music School), for one hour, tea break and a relaxing strum for one hour.

10 November Berry Brow Methodist Church concert to raise money for church funds. 15 Ukulele players and David Pawson on accordion. 

21 October Holmfirth Music Festival 87% and winners of the club in Class 44 

12 October Brighouse Arts Festival - St Johns Church Rastrick, Ukulele Extravaganza - very well attended and lots of fun.  Thanks to Ray Lumb who organised it. 

2 September - Slaithwaite Spa Gala

13 June - Mount Pleasant Primary School afternoon concert

3 June - Fund raising summer ball for Yorkshire Air Ambulance at Meltham Golf Club. Organised by Joy (practice nurse Lockwood Surgery) raised over £1,000

6 May - Holmfirth Folk Festival Ukulele Jamorbee

25 June United Reform Church, Mold Green charity event raised £732 towards a wheelchair bike for Jemiah’s Foundation (Supporting Disabled Children Non profit foundation). 

11 June New Mill and District senior citizens reunion at Holmfirth High School. £50 donation to Musica Kirklees (Formerly Kirklees Music School) - Gift of Music

During term times, the sessions are led by Ginette from 2pm until around 4:30 and usually practice for our next concert with a refreshment break to give the fingers a rest and a chance to chat.

One of the advantages of the Ukulele is that whatever level of experience you have you can join in, either by strumming or playing the individual notes and Ginette's choice of music ensures that everyone can be included in these sessions.
