OPAL SURVEY - National Pond Survey
On Tuesday 25 May 2010 Louise Parker from the Opal Survey gave a training session for Teachers, Park Wardens and Leaders in the visitor centre followed by pond dipping in the cascade pond down the main drive.

Following our training on the Opal Survey and Pond dipping we can report that the Pond down the main drive is quite healthy. The results have been submitted and you can see the types of insects etc on the Opal Website by clicking the above link. Despite the ducks paying regular visits there are quite a number of tadpoles, newts and other interesting swimmers.
POND DIPPING PLATFORM COMPLETED
The pond dipping platoform on the Lower Pond was completed on 18 March 2010 by BTCV.
Plants Stolen and you can Tweet on Twitter
Sunday 28 March 2010 - a 'lady' was seen digging plants out of the bandstand beds whilst her 2 children were keeping watch. If you see anyone stealing please let us know, inform Kirklees staff or contact the police. A lot of hard work goes into looking after the park for the benefit of everyone.
VISITOR CENTRE OPENING TIMES
WITH EFFECT FROM SUNDAY 28 MARCH 2010 the visitor centre will be open from 1.30pm to 4pm on Sundays and Thursdays.
LOCAL SCHOOLS WORKING WITH KIRKLEES COUNCIL AND FOBP
Moor End Technology College students carry out work in the park every Monday morning during school term.

Due to adverse weather conditions and delay in the supply of materials the adventure playground is almost completed.

BTCV commence work on 16 February 2010 - The pond dipping platform will soon be in place.

The visitor centre is open for refreshments 1.30pm to 3.30pm Sundays and Thursdays. Do you have
any free time? If so, call in and put your name on the rota. It is a great way to make new friends and raise money for the restoration of the Park.FUNDING TEAM - next meeting Wednesday 20 January 2010 at 2pm in the visitor centre

SUNDAY 6 DECEMBER 2009 3pm to 4.15pm CAROL CONCERT WITH EMLEY BAND and ST BARNABAS CHOIR. Meet just inside the main gate in Beaumont Park Road. The visitor centre will be serving mulled wine, mince pies, and refreshments.

VOLUNTEER DAY - SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER clearing vegetation in the park. Meet 10am at the depot just inside the main gate in Beaumont Park Road. Please wear suitable clothing, boots and bring gardening gloves.
PARENTS AND TODDLERS
Parents and Toddlers Group will recommence on Thursday 8 OCTOBER from 9.30am in the visitor centre.
OVER 2,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED OUR HERITAGE DAY 2009
The sun shone occasionally and we thank everyone who supported our Heritage Day.

NORDIC WALKING
The nordic walkers enjoyed their last walk of 2008 in Beaumont Park on a beautiful December day with Castle Hill in the background.
Ongoing cascade problems
The cascade requires a new pump, it has been ordered and should be installed shortly.
