"Innovation is for everyone" is a quote from an address given by a former director of Marks & Spencer.  It draws attention to the fact that in all theatres of human endeavour innovation can and should apply: it is not just for engineers or scientists or generally for people in business.

No, innovation is for everyone: it can apply in education, in politics, in social issues at local or national level; indeed in how to enhance the attractiveness of your local park.

This talk will address the issue of what innovation is and is not.  It will try to establish a common (working) understanding of concepts such as: inventiveness, imaginativeness, creativity and how innovation is seen as a synonym for these concepts but it and they are not innovation as it is now understood.

Innovation is the "initiation and implementation of change" and covers a process occupying a few days, weeks or several years.  Case material will seek to explain how different approaches have pros and cons and how models of the process have changed as understanding grows.
