HALF TERM ACTIVITIES

The half term activities were extremely good.  The Geology afternoon on Tuesday 25 October was very well attended and due to the sunny weather the park was busy.  Thanks go to Alison Tyman and her husband, Sheila Dyson and her husband from the West Yorkshire Geology Trust for setting up the displays and providing information.

Thursday 27 October Autumn Watch turned out to be very wet but some joined the Park Warden and Ranger to do the bug hunt around the depot.  The Autumn Watch didn't reveal much activity apart from the odd rabbit, squirrels, magpies, jays, blackbirds and finches.   Jo Liversedge of the Forest School provided lots of material to do 'arty' things in the visitor centre and our volunteers provided refreshments througout the day.

Jon our Bushcraft PCSO and his partner set up basecamp in the woodland in the afternoon and our intrepid explorers tracked him down, built a shelter and had refreshments at base camp.  For a very wet day it turned out to be very interesting.

Saturday 29 October - Crosland Moor Beavers check the pond at the cascade.  We can report that it is healthy with smooth news, snails, shrimps, worms, skaters, water boatman and lots more fast moving little organisms.  Ph 5 and very clear water.  We thank the Beavers for providing the information for the pond management.
