STUMPERY If you are wondering what the tree stump is doing in the middle of the old hydrangea bed Kirklees staff are creating a stumpery.  It will be planted up with various species and should look quite good when finished. 

The objective of a Stumpery is to create a garden feature from ferns, logs and old tree roots. The Victorians started a trend to build Rooteries, Ferneries and Stumperies as romantic woodland places to grow exotic ferns and woodland plants. If you have a dark corner or want to collect ferns then you could start your own Stumpery quite easily and add to it as the fancy takes you.

QUIZ NIGHT  The quiz night was very successful and the next one is on Friday 23 October 2009 at Meltham Golf Club.

CASCADE NEWS - Work has commenced on repairing the cascade.  Due to lack of funds the pump will not be repaired until April 2009.
