BANDSTAND PROJECT ALMOST COMPLETED

Planning permission was granted on 9 February 2010 for the Reinstatement of the Beaumont Park Bandstand. Emma Mills (Kirklees Property & Design Services) has contacted bandstand manufacturers to supply quotes for the work. Maryke Woods, Kirklees Culture and Leisure services and FoBP will shortly be putting together the bid for the construction part of the bandstand.
The Bandstand Exhibition and Consultation Event was well attended and we thank everyone for coming and giving their views. The exhibition boards are still on view in the visitor centre.

ID30 created our boards from information researched by our hard working sub committee. We also thank Adrian Evans, Head of Design and Architecture at Huddersfield University, for suggesting the heading "bringing back the music".















Work began on 1 February 2011 preparing the bandstand base for the reinstatement of the bandstand. The preparatory work will take about two weeks. Parts of the bandstand are being constructed elsewhere and will be put into place in a few weeks time. Improvement of the paths
and landscaping work of the adjacent area will also commence shortly.
Bandstand officially opened on 5 June 2011 by the Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr. Eric Firth. Lindley Band were the first to perform on the new bandstand.

February 2012 - re-landscaping of the approach to the bandstand commenced as part of the Heritage Lottery Grant work. Planting should be completed by mid March 2012.
