OPAL SURVEY - National Pond Survey

On Tuesday 25 May 2010 Louise Parker from the Opal Survey gave a training session for Teachers, Park Wardens and Leaders in the visitor centre followed by pond dipping in the cascade pond down the main drive.

Details of the 'dip' can be viewed on the Opal Website http://www.opalexplorenature.org/?q=WaterResultsMap

Following our training on the Opal Survey and Pond dipping we can report that the Pond down the main drive is quite healthy.  The results have been submitted and you can see the types of insects etc on the Opal Website by clicking the above link.  Despite the ducks paying regular visits there are quite a number of tadpoles, newts and other interesting swimmers.
