Title: David Whitehead remembers coal deliveries
David White remembers his father Nathan Whitehead, coal merchants in Lockwood, delivering coal to the castle just after the war. Sacks of coal were dropped off at the top of the path and the gardener took them down to the castle.

The cafe in the Castle was a meeting place on Sunday afternoon to eye up the young ladies. The Castle was remembered as being a bit spooky, the door creaked on entering, there were stone floors and it felt quite cold inside. Frys Chocolate Cream bars were in cabinets and teas, pop and buns were sold.
